Windows 7 and 8.1 from next year not available for sale in our shop – Computer Idee

The era of Windows 7 is October 31 next year really to an end. From that date, manufacturers may not sell more computers or laptops with Windows 7. And Windows 8 must be to believe: Only Windows 10 may still be starting pre-installed on machines.

It noted ZDnet after Microsoft’s “Lifecycle Fact Sheet” found.

Professional

It states that the latest version of Windows 7 and 8.1 on October 31, 2016 to be delivered last. Windows 7 already only sold as Professional Edition – Home and Ultimate since October 31, 2014 are no longer shipped on computers

It is obviously not only for Windows 7, but also to Windows 8.1.. Also, Windows 8 is eventually phased out, but that happens even earlier: on June 30, 2016.

OEM sales

Microsoft will only stop their sales to retailers increased. Which may still just sell Windows 7 computers after that date, so the computers remain on sale while stocks last. It is also possible that sellers Windows 7 Pro purchase licenses, for example, CDs, and install themselves later on their computers.

Support

Even Microsoft is still providing updates for Windows 7 . That means that the Extended Support until January 14, 2020, and that you at least until that time, security remains critical updates in Windows 7.

Not unexpectedly

It is not unexpected Microsoft will stop supplying Windows 7. Normally, manufacturers need two years after the successor is to stop from selling the older Windows. This means that Windows XP still allowed to be sold until 2009, two years after Windows 7 came out. Under that rule would Windows 7 already in 2013 may no longer be sold (after Windows 8 in 2011), but because the market is so tepid response was Windows 8 decided to extend that period.

It is striking, however, that exactly on that line Windows 8 also would have to be sold until at least 2017, but Microsoft wants every customer switching to Windows 10.
