Since the NRC Handelsblad in the beginning of the year, took a sample which revealed that an economist from the VU from previous publications again, had used multiple texts implied, in later publications, there is a debate about self-plagiarism.
Some of the people feel that scientists have had all sorts of articles, wrongly as it were repetitions of his own work. VSNU is here not quite agree. President Dittrich: “We say, you can not plagiarize yourself, but you always have the obligation as a scientist to indicate which texts you use, where they come from and why you do it.”
For this reason the VSNU decided to adapt. the Code of Conduct “Science should be as transparent as possible,” says Dittrich. “If appearances can be created that knowledge comes from elsewhere, even if it is yourself, then make clear what you’ve published it before.”
