DuckDuckGo search engine in China is no longer useful, probably because the Chinese government has placed the service. Blacklisted DuckDuckGo is a search engine where the user privacy is of paramount importance.

Why DuckDuckGo may no longer be used is not known. The blockade was noticed by a Chinese journalist, CEO of DuckDuckGo confirms that there is indeed a barricade was raised. It is possible that the blockade has been working for some time, but earlier this summer was DuckDuckGo still usable.

It is not the first time that a western site is blocked by the Chinese, Google and Wikipedia have recent years, for example, frequently clashed with the government. Popular services like Bing and Yahoo are allowed, but are censored in cooperation with the government.

DuckDuckGo recent weeks worldwide likely to become significantly more popular because Apple decided to integrate the service into iOS 8 (review) as an option for default search engine.
