Security experts have discovered a new vulnerability that is possible even more dangerous than Heart Bleed. The vulnerability of, called Shell Shock, affects systems running Linux and Apple’s OS X system
.
The leak is in a piece of software that twenty years old and the world runs on half a billion systems. With this software Bash commands can be given in the Unix operating system that underlies both Linux and OS X. The leaking attackers can remotely execute code and take over devices that way.
The Bash Software is being used in corporate networks, web servers, and Wi-Fi hotspots. Hackers have started to attacks in which they seem to have particularly targeted at WiFi hotspots.
While security experts expect Shellshock fewer systems will take over Heart Bleed the damage may be greater. Hackers can complete control of an infected system take over and destroy data that way, websites and networks attacks paralyze. In Heart Bleed the damage was limited to steal data.
Linux is now an update appeared that the leak partially closed. It is not known when Apple releases an update
