Samsung will be available in January Android version 7.1.1 is to distribute to all customers with a Galaxy S7. Android 7.0 is since this summer, but as always with Android updates, manufacturers have a few months for all of their own customizations to Android. Only when that happens is get the devices a upgrade offered. Given the large amount of work and the costs that it brings with it you will see a trend that more and more manufacturers opt for a fairly bare-bones Android experience.

Samsung is currently one of the manufacturers that have the most adjustments. Previously, it was, perhaps, also Huawei, but the Chinese brand is with EMUI 5.0 a whole lot went back to the base. Other brands like HTC, LG and Sony all offer already a pretty bare version of Android.
