Het number of elderly people that make use of the internet continues to grow. And prior to that crawl they don’t always have a pc or are they a tablet on the couch; still more 75-year olds have a smartphone. Three years ago, there was even one in twenty people in this age group, there’s one, now is that almost one in four. It reports the CBS.
Incidentally, it also increases the number of tablets and other means to make use of the internet. This year, it was 60 percent of the over 75 on one way or the other at home on the internet and half of them did just that. Four years ago, it went in both cases to slightly more than 40 percent.
The smartphone is also the least popular way to go online in the elderly. Over 75 used, namely during the three months prior to the survey as often as a PC, laptop or tablet, but less often a smartphone.
What 75-year olds do on the internet? E-mail is by far the most popular. 9 out of 10 elderly people do that. "Around 70 percent to the internet for searching information about goods or services and banking. Around 60 percent of consumers do online purchases and searches for information about health," adds CBS.
Not unexpectedly, is the oldest group of inhabitants in our country is still relatively the least online, but it is the fastest growing group. In the age group below 65 to 75 years, meanwhile, 84 percent of internet; in 2012 this was 79 percent.
Of all the inhabitants, 94 percent of the residents of the home have access to internet and 92% use it.
