Research TU Delft proves Einstein wrong – NU.nl

The scientists showed that electrons in two diamonds, separated by 1.3 km campus, can really have an invisible connection – a kind of teleportation so

The findings were published Wednesday in the leading. scientific journal Nature .

Scientist John Stewart Bell invented in 1964 an experiment to show that “spooky action at a distance,” as Einstein put it, really existed. Within quantum mechanics applies this test, the loophole-free Bell test, the holy grail.

Entanglement

Quantum physicists are talking about the phenomenon of “entanglement” as they explain how teleportation works. “Nobody really understands what’s involved entanglement happens,” professor Ronald Hanson said last year. “We do know that it exists, it is widely accepted among physicists.”

Scientists understand mathematically how it works, and can calculate it, Hanson explains. “But because there is no similarity with something we know from everyday life, it is not put into words. It is basically meant that two particles, even if they are far apart, interact.”

Now it has been shown that it really exists, is one of the most intriguing debates in physics closed. It also creates the scientists also have the opportunity for a radical new way for secure communication, which is impossible to eavesdrop because the information does not travel between two points, but is created.
