Google helps refugees mobile site – Apparata

Google helps refugees with mobile site
A compact webzijde with all the information that modern refugee needs. Google makes it possible.

Conversations with international relief organizations showed a lack of up-to-date information is a major problem among refugees. Because many refugees often have a smartphone – often the only thing of value that they have them – the US tech giant has developed a mobile site with the most important information. The site is in accordance with Google in multiple languages, user-friendly and battery-saving.

Arabic
The site offers information on medical care, sleeping and transportation. The information is displayed on a black background and Arabic is the default language. Something that has been added to the translation function as well, whereby it is possible to also translate texts offline. Google says that the number of translation requests from German into Arabic this year is five times higher than last year.

For the Apparata-reading refugee: the site is HERE to visit. Info is currently limited to the Greek island of Lesbos, but Google hopes to expand rapidly.
