video Exactly 25 years ago, the Voyager flew past Triton, moon of the planet Neptune. The recordings were then made, just been restored and the result is stunningly beautiful.
Although the inside of Triton ice, there are on the surface volcanoes and aadbreuken to see.
On to Pluto
The recordings were polished by Paul Schenk, who used a new card with a resolution of 600 meters per pixel and the colors worked for a simulation obtain what we would see with the human eye as we fly past Triton.
The new card was made with a view at the time that New Horizons, the new spacecraft NASA will fly past Pluto. Pluto is about as large as Triton and also has a similar composition. New Horizon will pass by Pluto in July next year.
Cosmic blockbuster
“Triton may not be the perfect seasoning for coming attractions, but it is a good prequel the cosmic blockbuster we expect when New Horizons reaches Pluto next year, “says a NASA spokesman.
