Successful quarter, Samsung, in spite of burning phones – NOS

Technology company Samsung has in the last quarter of 2016 profits of 7.3 billion euros. That is the highest quarterly in three years.

Analysts expected a lower profit because of the problems with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. That unit could catch fire, and was in the beginning of the quarter globally withdrawn from the market.

The total turnover of the South Korean company rose to 41,9 billion euros.

Samsung will benefit especially from the increased sales of memory chips and displays. Those products especially in China a lot of question. Samsung is the largest manufacturer of memory chips in the world. The company is in a lot of markets and allows e.g. refrigerators, printers and washing machines.

Also focuses Samsung is increasingly on the sale of auto parts. The company manufactures for manufacturers of complex batteries.

Smartphones

Samsung sold over the past three months less phones. The problems with the Galaxy Note 7 cost the company an estimated more than 6 billion dollar.

The results of an investigation into the cause of the problems with the device later this month, be published.

The successor of the Galaxy S7 is expected in april.
