More advertising on smart tv’s from Philips – NOS

On smart tvs from Philips, consumers will soon be more complaints. The tv’s are updated so that in the menus and for the start of an app, video messages can be played back.

The ads could be per country and time differences. What the manufacturer of the tv programs, it is still only the beginning. In the future, advertisements on the smart tv may be personalized.

“We know many of the viewing habits”, says Paulo Lopes, TP Vision, the company that today is the Philips tv produces. “What channels there are to look and which apps are being used. We can therefore claims in the future more relevant.”

He gives the example of a vegan that no complaints for flesh wants to see. “Advertising should be relevant and it is also less irritating.”

The Philips tv’s of 2013 have already received an update which allows for more advertising. The tvs of 2014 and the years to then be later updated. First, we test whether the system works well enough.

Other manufacturers

For the advertising works TP Vision, together with technology company Improve Digital. According to that company want to also have other tv brands more advertising to show on their smart tv’s. “Philips pioneered this approach, but there are certainly more manufacturers are doing”, says Bastiaan Spanish of Improve Digital. This is how it works under more Samsung commercials in the main menus of the tv’s.

“For advertisers, this is becoming more interesting. Regular tv runs back and consumers are looking more and more apps. The advertiser wants the consumer to follow,” says Spanish.

Cheap

The sales video’s are in a corner of the screen played. Only when it is clicked, they will be full-screen played.

Consumers should not think that they are due to the additional advertising will be less need to pay for their new device. “No, the tv is not cheap,” says Paolo Lopes of TP Vision. “But in the long term is the viewing experience better, because, we have free apps and video’s offer.”
