The pop-up bar consists of several drones that take orders and serve. The cafe is an initiative of 20 students under the name Blue Jay and part of a three-day festival in honor of the sixtieth anniversary of the Eindhoven University. The café is daily open to the public from 22 to 24 April.

The useful drone

The aim of the documentary is to demonstrate the potential of drones for new applications. The prototypes that fly around in the café is based on four elements: safety, helpfulness with a multipurpose grapple, communication and autonomy.

As a result, the drones are able to deliver a drink independently. But there are other possibilities, says Tessie Hearts, student and team manager of the project: “For example you can think of preventing fire, intruders detection or around bring medicines.”

With a visit to the dronecafé visitors can experience the possibilities of the drones. But the team wants more than that. Hearts, “We must all decide what gets job technology in the future. We therefore invite the audience to think about during their visit. “
