The website Thurrott has managed to put on a build of the new Windows version, Windows Cloud. This new version of Windows, as the rumors already did suspect a stripped-down version of Windows 10 and the competition with Google’s Chrome OS.
Microsoft refuses to date to address the rumors and online information is published about Windows Cloud. It may be that Microsoft is now in the short term, however, with more information to advance, because now a journalist has to know how to put on a build of this new Windows is there is little more to hide.
From the new build comes to the fore that Windows Cloud is indeed a stripped down version of Windows 10. This version of Windows 10 is more or less the successor of Windows 8 RT and Windows 8.1 with Bing. Which versions of Windows were only suitable for ARM processors, and could only Windows Store apps to run. Windows Cloud will work on all processors, so also x86 processors from AMD and Intel, but can again only Windows Store apps to run.
Thus, the usability of Windows 10 is quite limited, but the operating system may be a lot cheaper to be offered to manufacturers. Will this Windows version is much safer, because desktop applications are not just to perform. On the applications in the Windows Store apps are running Microsoft a big check, to prevent malware.
This should be the answer of Microsoft on the cheap Chromebooks from Google. The Google Chromebooks are very popular in education, because they are inexpensive and are safe and easy to manage. Microsoft can with Windows Cloud immediately also a simple, inexpensive, and secure system to offer the education. Finally, Microsoft will still have an upgrade path offer, to which Windows Cloud can be upgraded to a full-fledged Windows 10 version. This will undoubtedly only be available for a fee.
Microsoft so try to do something in return to the upcoming Chromebooks. The only thing that Google immediately have an advantage has is the Google Play Store which is also on all future Chromebooks available. The quality and the number of Windows Store apps is even more limited, although many business and productive apps already available in the Windows Store.
