Datacenter Google gets Dutch wind – FOK!

The new data center that Internet giant Google is building at Eemshaven will run entirely on wind energy. The company on Tuesday announced it has signed a deal to purchase all of the energy of a wind farm at Delfzijl.

The eighteen windmills have near Delfzijl, as the park has been off, generating 62 megawatts. Eneco expects the wind farm about one and a half years off. The data center is expected to be completed in 2016.

Google and Eneco have signed a contract for ten years. How much money is involved with the deal was not disclosed.
