Russia’s richest man announced his Nobel Medal of the American scientist James Watson bought. And he wants to give them back.

Alisher Usmanov says Watson has earned the medal. “A situation where an outstanding scientist medal for his performance has to sell, in my opinion is unacceptable,” he declared. “James Watson is one of the greatest biologists of history. The price should be with him. “

The medal, awarded in 1962 for the discovery of the structure of DNA, was 4.1 million dollars auctioned. Apparently the anonymous bidder was none other than the Russian billionaire. His fortune is estimated at 15.8 billion dollars.

Watson sold his gold medal in their own words for charitable and scientific research. Thus the medal on December 4 at Oesmanov landed.

It was the first medal was put up for sale by a still living Nobel Prize Laureate.
